Consultation is now open for the Connecticut Citizen Assembly on Property Taxes

As part of its upcoming Citizen Assembly on Property Taxes, the State of Connecticut partnered with Make.org to broaden public participation in discussions about funding local public services. The initiative combines a mini‑public—a Citizens Assembly of 100 residents from all 169 towns—with a maxi‑public online consultation to gather input from thousands of additional participants. This consultation will run from May 13th to June 21st 2026.

The Assembly will examine how Connecticut funds essential services such as education, road maintenance, police, healthcare, housing, and local government departments. It will also explore various tax sources, including property taxes, income taxes, payroll taxes, and wealth taxes.

Our platform will be used in two phases:

  1. Identify residents’ priorities before deliberations begin
  2. Collect feedback on draft recommendations developed by Assembly members.
