This year’s R&I Days brought together policymakers, researchers, innovators, and industry leaders around major EU strategies, including the AI in Science Strategy, the European Life Sciences Strategy, and the European Innovation Act.
Over the two days, more than 20 conversations revolved around the future of research in Europe and the growing role of AI in science. Many speakers stressed that research cannot be sidelined, as it deserves as much political attention and investment as defence and security. The takeaway was simple: if Europe wants to stay innovative and competitive, research must remain at the heart of its agenda.
During the R&I Days, several high-level speakers shaped the debate. Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva, responsible for Startups, Research and Innovation, opened the event stressing Europe’s need to redouble efforts in funding, policy coherence, and supporting researchers. Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, brought attention to the vital role of digital frontiers and AI regulation, and to the need to ensure that Europe remains not only innovative but secure and democratic amid global competition.
Thanks to Panoramic, the event’s outcomes are easily searchable, transparent, and accessible well beyond the two-day conference. The platform enables stakeholders, researchers, and citizens alike to revisit sessions, find relevant information quickly, and stay connected to Europe’s innovation agenda.
The deployment of Panoramic at the R&I Days is another example of how digital civic-tech solutions can support democratic processes and knowledge sharing at the European level. By making complex institutional content more accessible, we help ensure that innovation policies remain open, transparent, and inclusive.
Panoramic was first presented on the European level during the 2024 EuroPCom Conference. Since then, Make.org’s AI driven platform has proved its value in enhancing institutional events, offering the public intuitive access to secured institutional data, time-stamped video recordings, and key documents.
We are delighted that our collaboration with the European Committee of the Regions paved the way for other institutions to also apply European civic tech tools to better connect with the broader audience.
The R&I Days Panoramic is now live, and we are excited to continue our collaboration with the European Commission and other EU institutions in building a more participatory, connected, and democratic Europe. Explore the platform here.
