Who are we?

Make.org is an independent European civic tech organisation. We build technology for democratic purposes to contribute to enhancing participatory democracies - for the positive transformation of our societies. You can find out more about us here. Our teams build digital solutions to engage citizens and stakeholders on a massive scale in decision making processes. We are engaging in debates and discussions on participatory democracy online in Europe and globally. Our offices are based in Paris, Berlin and Brussels.

We are looking for a Brussels-based intern, with a background in European studies, public policy, economics or other social science fields and an interest or experience in our field of expertise. The intern will work closely with the Governance and Democratic Innovation team and be strongly involved in our ongoing projects.

This will involve in particular:

  • Network and partnership management (incl. NGOs, public partners & foundations);
  • Support the organisation and implementation of events;
  • Support our general project implementation, organisation and management;
  • Contribute to the project development of future potential opportunities;
  • Drafting policy notes, publications and posts for social media;
  • Reporting back from relevant conferences and events, such as informal meetings.

Key qualifications for the position:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in European studies, public policy, economics or other relevant discipline;
  • Background and experience in European public policy; project management, communication, knowledge of the EU frameworks;
  • A sincere interest in participatory democracy, civic tech & citizen engagement;
  • Well-organised, practical-minded and able to prioritise a busy and varied workload;
  • Excellent skills of English (written and spoken), as well as a solid knowledge of French (written and spoken). Further EU languages are desirable;
  • Strong computer / internet skills (basic knowledge of relevant programmes / software and social media).
